Pokiri is one film in Mahesh Babu’s career that’ll make every fan of the star swell with utmost pride. Very few films have elicited his complete potential like the action-entertainer - be it his ease with action, humour, romance or the terrific dialogue delivery. The film, written and directed by Puri Jagannath, also starring Ileana D’Cruz, is re-releasing in theatres commemorating the star’s birthday.

Special shows of Pokiri are being organised across various regions in the Telugu states and US on August 9. The response for the same has been nothing short of phenomenal. Tickets on online platforms are selling like hot cakes within minutes for the shows. Noticing the terrific response for the shows, fans and distributors of the film have decided to donate the film’s returns entirely for a noble cause.

Yes, you heard it right. All the returns earned from the Pokiri special shows will be donated to Help Children’s heart operations and education for poor kids through MB Foundation. The fans and distributors expressed their happiness about coming together for a heartfelt gesture. “We will continue to do many charitable activities following the footsteps of Mahesh Babu,” they add.

For the uninitiated, Pokiri is one of the biggest hits in the career of Mahesh Babu, jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh and Manjula Ghattamaneni (sister of Mahesh). The film is the story of a wayward yet no-nonsense goon Pandu, who falls in love with a fitness instructor Shruti. Their love life falls apart when the former resists her advances. Later, Pandu locks horns with a notorious don.

The Nandi award-winning film was cinematographed by Shyam K Naidu and edited by Marthand K Venkatesh. Prakash Raj, Nasser, Ashish Vidyarthi, Brahmanandam too play important roles in the film. Mani Sharma’s music for the actioner was a key reason behind the film attaining cult status among Telugu audiences. The film, currently streaming on Hotstar, was also remade in Tamil, Hindi, Bengali and Kannada languages.
