Pippa teaser: Ishaan Khatter is a plucky soldier staring down the barrel of a historic war

The film, which stars Mrunal Thakur, Soni Razdan and Priyanshu Painyuli, is based on the story of war veteran Balram Singh Mehta, who played a prominent role in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

As promised, the makers of Pippa have unveiled the teaser of the upcoming war drama. The teaser gives viewers a glimpse into the historic war Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and the crucial role war veteran Balram Singh Mehta played in the battle for Bangladesh’s liberation.

The teaser shows how India’s part in the Bangladesh Liberation War began, when Pakistan launched an airstrike against Indian air fleets. Viewers get to see Ishaan Khatter in action as military officer Balram Singh Mehta, who spurs soldiers to take part in the historic battle. Rife with high octane military action and drama, Pippa promises a powerful retelling of the historic war.

Sharing the trailer on their official social media, the makers captioned it “With a great sense of pride, on this 75th Independence Day, we unveil the teaser of #Pippa, An action-packed war drama that brings to life the valour of our soldiers who fought the historic 1971 India-Pakistan war!”.

The post also unveiled the new release date for the film, which was initially scheduled for release on December 9. The upcoming film will now be released in theatres on December 2, 2022.

Khatter also shared the teaser of the film on his official Instagram handle, and spoke of how it had been an honour to work on the project. Khatter wrote “On the momentous occasion of our country’s Independence Day - presenting a glimpse from a film we’ve collectively put our heart, gut and soul into. May our soil, our people and our culture be blessed always. It’s been an honour to represent the valour and bravery of our defence forces. More to come”.

The teaser also features glimpses of Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan as well. The upcoming film is based on Mehta’s novel The Burning Chaffees: A Soldier's First-Hand Account of the 1971 War. The film’s title is in reference to a Russian amphibious war tank, which is generally referred to as 'Pippa'.

Raja Krishna Menon has directed the war drama, which is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
