Indian cricketer KL Rahul turned 31 today (April 18), and the celebrations at his place started with a sweet cake-cutting ceremony.

As the star cricketer is currently busy with his professional commitments at the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), he was joined by wife Athiya for a simple cake-cutting celebrations at midnight in his hotel room.

Attending the low-key celebrations was a friend of the couple who took to social media to share pictures from the celebration. In the now-viral pictures, KL Rahul can be seen cutting his birthday cake as his wife Athiya watched on and smiled.

The birthday boy sported a striped T-Shirt and teamed with a pair of denims, Athiya twinned with her husband in a striped jumpsuit of a similar kind.

Interestingly, Suniel Shetty took to his social media handles at the stroke of midnight to wish his son-in-law with never-seen-before pictures from Athiya-KL Rahul’s wedding.

“Blessed to have you in our lives …Happy birthday baba,” Suniel Shetty wrote in the caption.

Athiya's actor brother Ahan also shared a picture with the cricketer, writing, “Happy birthday brother."

“I am a proud father. Athiya is blessed. Ahan is blessed; he gets to learn from KL who is so calm and respectful. I was aware that Athiya and KL were seeing each other,” Suniel Shetty had said of his son-in-law in a previous interview, according to ETimes.
