Directed by Vishnu Bharathan, Phoenix - starring Aju Varghese - is set to hit the cinemas on November 17
Malayalam actor Aju Varghese has been signing films from different genres that feature him in diverse characters. He is now gearing up for the theatrical release of horror flick Phoenix, helmed by debutant director Vishnu Bharathan. The movie’s screenplay is penned by Garudan fame Midhun Manuel Thomas. It’s releasing in the theatres on November 17.
Phoenix to clash with Sesham Mikeil Fathima and Falimy at the box office
Distributed by Central Pictures, you can watch the horror drama film - starring Aju Varghese and Chandhunadh - in cinemas near you on November 17. At the box office, Phoenix will compete with Kalyani Priyadarshan’s sports comedy drama Sesham Mikeil Fathima (helmed by Manu C Kumar) and Basil George’s family drama Falimy (directed by Nithish Sahadev).
Phoenix’s plot, cast and crew
The Aju Varghese-starrer narrates the story of John and his family and their relocation to a faraway island village, with the hope of rebuilding their new life. However, things take a different turn when a new member joins them, leading to a series of horrifying events. How the family tackles the obstacles forms the crux of the movie.
The posters for the film have piqued viewers’ curiosity, as the movie promises an intriguing storyline. The two posters that have been released so far feature upside down images , and what is interesting is that they offer different perspectives when viewed from up and down.
Apart from Aju, Phoenix also stars Chandhunadh and Anoop Menon, alongside Bhagath Manuel, Abhirami Bose and Asha Aravind. The film’s camera work is done by Alby, while it is bankrolled by Rinish KN, under the banner of Front Row Productions. Music for the movie is scored by Sam CS.
