The film, directed by Srinivas Avasarala, has music by Kalyani Malik and also stars Sri Vidya, Abhishek Maharshi, Megha Chowdhury
Naga Shaurya, who was last seen in Krishna Vrinda Vihari, joined hands with actor-director Srinivas Avasarala for Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi. The film marks his third collaboration with the filmmaker after two memorable projects - Oohalu Gusagusalade and Jyo Achyutananda. Malvika Nair plays the female lead in the slice-of-life romance which hit screens worldwide today i.e. March 17.
TG Vishwa Prasad and Dasari Padmaja bankrolled the film under People Media Factory and Dasari Productions. Kalyani Malik scored the music for the same, while Megha Chowdhury, Ashok Kumar, Abhishek Maharshi, Srividhya, Varanasi Soumya Chalamcharla, Harini Rao, Arjun Prasad essayed crucial roles. Leading OTT platform Sun NXT has acquired the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights.
The film is expected to premiere on the platform in the second half of April 2023. Gemini TV has bagged the satellite rights of the romance. Interestingly, the television network and the OTT platform own the rights of Srinivas Avasarala’s earlier directorial Jyo Achyutananda as well. Reports suggest that the producers of Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi recovered the budget of the film through the OTT/satellite deals.
Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi revolves around Sanjay (Naga Shaurya) and his senior Anupama (Malvika Nair), college buddies who stick together through their thick and thin. They move abroad to study further, have a jolly good time, fall in love eventually until a tricky phase in their relationship forces them to part ways. Even as they try to move on in life, their past continues to haunt them.
Sunil Kumar Nama cranked the camera for the film which was edited by Kiran Ganti. Director Mohana Krishna Indraganti turned a singer for the cover version of Neelimegha Malavo, the popular 60s number from the Kantha Rao, Haranath starrer Madana Kamaraju Katha. The film was extensively shot in UK and India over a span of three years.
