Peacemaker Season 2 is one of the most anticipated shows across the world and seems like the show is releasing right after Superman.
Here's When Peacemaker 2 Hits Streaming
We are on Wednesday, and it seems like this week has been dedicated to Warner Bros’ Max (HBO Max), which has taken over mainstream headlines with the release of the finale of a successful show, the sizzle reel, and the buildup for the release of another banger show (Dune: Prophecy). What is also making the most news in the announcement is the stronghold that DCU is set to have in the year 2025. For streaming, the biggest show to be coming from the James Gunn and Peter Safran mill is Peacemaker Season 2. This week, the show broke headlines because the streamer gave us the first glimpse into the second season with the first footage, included in the sizzle reel that revealed everything coming on Max in 2025. While the release date of the show remained under wraps, it turns out we now know the month.
It was a while back when James Gunn confirmed that he would begin Peacemaker Season 2 once he wrapped up Superman with David Corenswet. With that, he also confirmed that Peacemaker would be set after the events of Superman which is the first live-action DCU film following Gunn and Safran’s takeover of Warner Bros’ wing. The filmmaker had also confirmed that the show would release on Max in 2025. Now, HBO CEO and Chairman Casey Bloys has confirmed that the John Cena-led show will hit streaming in August 2025, as per IGN.
This means the show is set to release roughly a month after Superman which is slated for July 11, 2025. It’s an interesting release window because, as Gunn confirmed, the events of Superman impact the John Cena show, and he clearly doesn't want to lose momentum, releasing the show immediately after the film. This also explains why he jumped from David Corenswet's film to Cena’s show so quickly.

The teaser was part of a showreel that Max shared, introducing everything coming to their platform in the next year, starting this December. The studio confirmed Peacemaker Season 2 releases in 2025, with John Cena returning with his team of underdogs, ready to unleash havoc on their adversaries. We see Christopher Smith, played by Cena, don his helmet once again as Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and John Economos (Steve Agee) join him. We also get the first live-action version of Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), who will make his debut in Creature Commandos next month.
James Gunn, who is very active on Threads, was recently asked whether Season 1 of Peacemaker would be completely different from Season 2. Gunn replied, "No. A couple of facts are very minorly different, that's all." The Superman director also confirmed that "it essentially picks up where Season 1 left off, with a couple of minor differences." Additionally, the filmmaker shared on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set right after the events of Superman. "Peacemaker’s coming back right after I do Superman. That’s my next thing. I go straight into Peacemaker from Superman" he said.
