John Cena starrer Peacemaker Season 2 is indeed anticipated and this second confirmation on release window makes it even more exciting.
John Cena Talks About Peacemaker Season 2
After a year and a half, or perhaps even two years of chaos, the DCU is back on track as James Gunn and Peter Safran usher in a new era for the studio with legacy superheroes and some fresh faces. Gunn has been in the spotlight for everything related to Superman as he’s been busy making the new film, which has now wrapped up and entered post-production. However, while Superman is in the works, something else has captured the attention of James Gunn fans and stirred up quite a frenzy: Peacemaker Season 2, which brings back John Cena, but this time to the DCU. There has been immense anticipation surrounding the second season of the show, which now becomes part of the DCU canon. Fans have been eagerly searching for every possible update, and it turns out we now have one, straight from John Cena.
Peacemaker Season 2 has been a hot topic, particularly because James Gunn has confirmed that while Season 1 is not DCU canon, everything that happens in Season 2 and beyond will be. This means there will be plenty of new elements for fans to enjoy, and they have been eagerly awaiting a release date. Gunn previously mentioned that he would focus on Peacemaker Season 2 as soon as Superman is completed, with the release order following suit. Now, John Cena has seemingly confirmed the 2025 release window.
During the red carpet premiere of his latest film Jackpot! Cena spoke to The Direct and was asked when fans could expect Peacemaker Season 2 and if there were any updates. The WWE star graciously provided a short but significant answer, stating, "I'm hopeful in saying next year... And that's about the only Peacemaker question I can answer."

If we calculate based on what both James Gunn and John Cena have said, Peacemaker Season 2 is likely to release in late 2025. Gunn has stated that the show will be released after Superman which is set for July 11, 2025. The studio will likely avoid releasing these two major projects too close together, leaving late 2025 as the most probable release window for the Cena-led series.
James Gunn recently responded to a fan question about whether Season 2 of Peacemaker will be completely different from Season 1. Gunn replied, “No. A couple [of] facts are very minorly different, that's all." The Superman director also confirmed that "It essentially picks up where Season 1 left off, with a couple of minor differences." Additionally, during an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Gunn mentioned that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set right after the events of Superman. "Peacemaker's coming back right after I do Superman. That's my next thing. I'll go straight into Peacemaker from Superman” he said.
