Pavitra Rishta—It’s Never Too Late is helmed and produced by Nandita Mehra, will release on Zee5 on September 15 and then on ALTBalaji.
A still from the trailer.
Back in 2009, the Zee TV serial Pavitra Rishta brought to life the heartfelt love story of Manav and Archana. Played with aplomb by the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande, in what was their career-defining stint, their unaffected and earthy portrayal of Manav and Archana respectively caught our hearts. The show emerged to be one of the most popular daily soaps in the Indian television industry before clocking to an abrupt end five years later.
Now, 12 years later, Manav and Archana are back with another love story in season 2 of Pavitra Rishta. Popular television actor Shaheer Sheikh, currently seen in season 3 of Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, will play Manav. Ankita Lokhande will reprise her role of Archana, Titled Pavitra Rishta: It is Never Too Late, the show is helmed and produced by Nandita Mehra.

The trailer of the show was launched on Wednesday. Ankita Lokhande’s Archana walks in to open the trailer, smiling the very endearing smile that warmed audiences of the original Zeetv serial. She walks her way as a working woman, sure-footed and confident, but not averse to the idea of an arranged marriage. The lilting background music of the late 90s popular song Saathiya Tune Kya Kiya from the 1991 Salman Khan Revathy-starrer Love wafts in at a point. Shaheer Sheikh’s Manav (we bet you must have visualised Sushant Singh Rajput’s face in a blink, only to look at Shaheer) comes up. Both their parents have fixed a potential partner for them. Cut to, the two of them having a glance at each other’s pictures on their phones and smiling. And you know love is in the air already. But at the wedding altar, a lie about Manav’s profession calls off their happily-ever-after. At this juncture, with their hearts broken and ways parted never to meet again, do the two eventually surpass their misgivings and differences to find love in each other?
The much-awaited show, especially for loyal fans, made a buzz ever since its cast was announced and a teaser was dropped. Shaheer’s casting as Manav garnered mixed reactions initially but took a positive turn after the release of the teaser. The familiar theme song of the show rang to herald the event of the trailer launch attended by Shaheer, Ankita and Nandita.

At the virtual trailer launch of the event, Shaheer Sheikh talked about how he brought his approach of giving his 100% to any project on the sets and worked on reaching the emotional depth of Manav. “You have to feel the purity to portray it,” he said adding, “When I wear the locket, it gives a different tanned look and I could see Manav in myself.” He also said that his casting was the biggest change for Ankita and that he is glad that she accepted it.
Shaheer went on to describe the theme of the new season, “Even after so many years, it’s not late to confess love to each other and that is what they are trying to say. It’s never late to do the right thing.” Ankita agrees. She said, “Manav-Archana’s story is such that they will always be in love,” agreed Ankita.
Speaking about her experience with her co-star, Ankita said, “Shaheer as a co-star is superb. He is a good human being and as an actor, he makes the perfect fit as Manav. His eyes are very gentle; the simplicity of Manav was most important and he has Manav within him.” She also shared that while it was ‘slightly awkward’ for them as they were working together for the first time, as the shoot progressed, they understood that they pair well onscreen and that going back on sets after 12 years as Archana made her emotional. “Archana and Manav are an emotion,” she said.
The makers have decided to go digital with the new season, locking it for a premiere on September 15 on ZEE 5, and then on ALTBalaji.
