Pavitra Rishta 2: Ankita Lokhande responds to SSR fans who are upset with show’s revival

Zee TV soap Pavitra Rishta starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande, which has been revived for another season,

The announcement to revive the popular soap Pavitra Rishta by Ekta Kapoor has not gone down well with the fans of Sushant Singh Rajput, so much so that they are now planning for a boycott campaign for the series.

The irate netizens have been trolling especially the lead actress Ankita Lokhande who has reprised her role in Season 2 of the show. After days of being trolled, the actress has now responded to the ‘hatred’ that she’s been getting for saying yes to the role alongside Shaheer Shaikh.

The actress said to Pinvilla: “In a way, I’m just trying to keep him alive with Pavitra Rishta 2.”

Pavitra Rishta is a soap family drama that starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande in lead roles as Manav and Archana. The series ran over 1,400 episodes and narrated the story of two lovers and their children over a period of 25 years. Sushant’s portrayal of Manav garnered him a wide range of fandom in Indian households, followed by several film offers. His on-screen chemistry with Ankita was much appreciated and fans could not contain their excitement when they made their off-screen relationship official. The series was a regular on Zee TV and is currently available on Zee5 OTT.

But the netizens are upset with the makers and the actress over the ill-timed revival of the series as well as the casting of Shaheer Sheikh as Manav, a role they believe is only suited for Sushant. A severe boycott campaign was also announced by fans of Sushant Singh Rajput and they did not spare the newly released trailer of Pavitra Rishta 2. They mocked the trailer and also said that Shaheer could never replace SSR.

Meanwhile, Ankita Lokhande was last seen in the Tiger Shroff starrer Baaghi 3 in which she played the wife of Ritesh Deshmukh’s character. The movie was declared a commercial disaster following its theatrical release.
