The Kannada filmmaker says that the setting of his next story required it to be made in Hindi
If you thought that Kannada filmmaker Pavan Wadeyar, who recently celebrated a milestone 10 years in the industry, has only been busy with the post-production and release plans of his next, Raymo, which has Ishan CV and Ashika Ranganath in the lead, you thought wrong. Turns out that the filmmaker, who also launched a home production banner and backed Sagar Puranik’s Dollu, has been making plans that will take him to Bollywood.
According to reports, Pavan will direct a film called Notary with Bengali star Parambrata Chatterjjee in the lead, which will go on floors in September this year, before which he hopes to bring Raymo to theatres. The story of Notary, says Pavan, was written a while ago, but while planning its execution, the filmmaker thought that it required a much-larger canvas and could not be narrated in a typical formulaic manner. Notary, he adds, requires a more innovative style of storytelling, which would not be possible if he were to make it as a Kannada film, so Pavan decided to make it in Hindi, instead.
Parambrata will play a character who just cannot lie no matter how challenging the circumstance, a role that Pavan thought the actor was best suited for, given his ‘innocent looks’. “He is in a field that, more often than not, throws situations that go against his core beliefs and what happens to him at such times and how he handles them forms the crux of the story. It’s a feel-good satire and will entertain you from start to finish with its comic elements,” Pavan was quoted as saying. The filmmaker is currently in the process of finalising the rest of the cast.
