The audio launch of Pathu Thala was held recently in Chennai and Silambarasan had told his fans that he was back with a bang, making it the sole reason enough to watch the film. The last time when Silambarasan played a gangster in Gautham Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, he won all our hearts. This time around, he is back as AGR, who is like a Robinhood to his people, but is a criminal in the eyes of the law. The actor's long-bearded look has already become a hit among fans.

Silambarasan had said during the film's audio launch that the only reason he agreed to do Pathu Thala was because of Gautham Karthik. He also wished his co-star huge success during the audio launch and stated that Gautham was just like him, despite coming from the film background, he battled a lot to be where he is today.

Everytime Isaipuyal AR Rahman has scored music for a Silambarasan film, the album has gone on to become a chartbuster. And this time around, too, Silambarasan had said that the album is an AR Rahman sambavam. And the album, too, has been well received by the audience.
Pathu Thala, remake of Mufti
As Obeli Krishna said, the film is a remake of the Kannada hit Mufti. The film was a massive hit in Kannada and emerged as one of the biggest hits in Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar's career. The initial portions of Pathu Thala, were directed by Narthan, after which Krishna stepped in.

Though Silambarasan had said that he couldn't match up to Shiva Rajkumar's style and acting prowess, he has tried his best to do justice to his character. It would be interesting to watch STR performing the role in his own style.
