Siju Wilson plays Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker in Vinayan’s big budget period action-thriller Pathonpatham Noottandu, which is set to hit theatres on September 8
The recent trailer of director Vinayan’s Pathonpatham Noottandu has already become the talk of the town, with many who had brushed off the filmmaker’s potential once again hailing his work. The film’s lead Siju Wilson is the latest in the long list to apologise for looking down on the filmmaker, based on his movies in the last decade.
Siju, who will be seen in the lead role of Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker in Vinayan’s period action thriller that is set to hit theatres on September 8, said that he was approached by the filmmaker at a time when he was thinking of grabbing a big opportunity and making the best use of it to further his acting career.
“I began my career with Malarvady Arts Club in which I had just two dialogues. Now, it’s been a dozen years and I know that if I don’t use this opportunity well, the audience would hit me with a bamboo stick. I also believe that I have miles to go and I have utilised the space I have got till now,” said the actor, at the audio launch function of the film in Kochi recently.
The actor also got emotional during a public apology to the filmmaker. “When his call came, my mind first went back to his recent films. ‘Why could he be calling me now?’ That was my first thought. But after I met him, I came out of the house fully charged. He gave me that respect,” said Siju, holding back his tears on stage.
Director Vinayan, who consoled the actor, said that he understood what Siju was feeling. “It’s the fire inside a youngster. In the past decade, I had stayed away from the industry after a few problems. But I didn’t give up, I did movies without established technicians and artistes, and released them. The quality of those movies (might not have been great); he didn’t look at the movies such as Athbhuthadweep, Dadasaheb or Rakshasarajavu that I had done. So, I told Siju that if I am able to do a good movie, I would take him to another level,” said the director.
The upcoming Onam release also has Sudev Nair, Kayadu Lohar, Anoop Menon, Chemban Vinod Jose and Poonam Bajwa in pivotal roles.
