The movie, directed by M Padmakumar and scripted by Abhilash Pillai, is expected to hit theatres soon
The first trailer from Joseph director M Padmakumar next titled Pathaam Valavu, which has Indrajith Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead, was released on Wednesday through the social media pages of the actors.
The pacy clip promises an edge-of-the-seat thriller revolving around a convict who is on parole and a group of cops who are sent to bring the former back as he doesn’t return to prison even after the parole period has expired.
The trailer hints at an intense family drama-thriller, with Suraj playing the convict named Solomon. A couple of scenes featuring Aditi Ravi, who playing Solomon’s wife, as well as Ajmal Amir, another cop, hints that Suraj’s character is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and uses his parole term to seek revenge.
Indrajith, who plays a cop in charge of bringing Solomon back to prison, retraces Solomon’s past in the thriller, which is scripted by Abhilash Pillai. The film, inspired by true incidents that shook Kerala a few years ago, also has Swasika and Kanmani in pivotal roles.
Incidentally, Abhilash had also written the script for Vysakh’s Night Drive, which had Indrajith playing a cop. In a recent interview with us, the writer told us that Indrajith was initially hesitant to essay another police role when they had approached him for Pathaam Valavu, as he had already a cop in Kurup, Mohandas, Theerppu and Anuradha Crime No. 59/2019.
“However, we insisted that he listen to narration first. As soon as I had reached the interval portions, Indraettan said, ‘We will do it’,” said Abhilash. The movie’s shoot was completed in three schedules last year with Thodupuzha, Wagamon, Kattapana and Kochi being the prime locations.
The film will also mark the reunion of composer Ranjin Raj and Padmakumar after Joju George’s Joseph, which is set to be remade in Hindi with Sunny Deol soon.
