It was widely reported that Parvathy will play a superhero in a film that was to be made by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films
Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu has been basking in back-to-back successes with her recent OTT releases, Dhootha and Kadak Singh. However, it was rumoured that the actress was signed on to play India’s first-ever female superhero in an upcoming fantasy film that is primarily in Malayalam. It was also reported that the said film was to be produced by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films in association with Zee Studios.
The actress has now come forward to squash the rumours that have been circulating on social media. Parvathy has said that the reports are false, denying being a part of any such project. The Dhootha actress took to her Instagram to post, “No Superhero movies are on yet. Wrongly spread the news for whatever reason.” (sic)
Parvathy’s latest releases
The Malayalam actress played DCP Kranti Shenoy, an intelligent police officer, in Dhootha. The project marked Parvathy’s first collaboration with Telugu star Naga Chaitanya and director Vikram Kumar. The series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. On the other hand, in Kadak Singh, which stars Pankaj Tripathi in the titular role, she plays Miss Kanan, aka Mimi Nurse. Kadak Singh can be streamed on ZEE5.
In a recent interview with OTTplay, Parvathy said that streaming platforms help certain types of films reach a wider and broader audience. Such films usually don't find a lot of takers at the box office. “Sometimes, OTT is the best possible choice to make back the money that you have invested in a project. But, as an actor whose visibility is important, I think OTT has opened us up to a larger audience,” she noted.
Thangalaan’s 2024 release date
Meanwhile, Parvathy will be next seen in director Pa Ranjith's Tamil film Thangalaan, which is set to hit theatres in January 2024. She plays a tribal woman in the Chiyaan Vikram starrer, which is set in the pre-independence era. Ullozhukku and Her are Parvathy’s other projects that are gearing up for release.
