We had earlier reported that Parthiban has been busy with the post production works of his directorial project Iravin Nizhal. The single-shot film, featuring a bunch of newbies, has AR Rahman composing music. Now, the veteran actor-filmmaker has roped in another Academy Award-winning technician for the unique film.

Craig Mann, who earned praise for sound designing for Hollywood film Whiplash, has come on board for the movie. Parthiban's last film, Oththa Seruppu, too, had an Oscar-winning technician (Resul Pookutty) at the helm of its sound designing. According to an article in TOI, Parthiban chose Craig for his film because he felt the project is quite a challenging one.

He was really impressed with his works in Whiplash and had recommended it to music maestro Ilaiyaraaja as well. Parthiban said that Craig was one of the technicians he wanted to work with after he watched the acclaimed Hollywood flick. "I felt that Iravin Nizhal required complex sound design, and hence, I approached him," he said.

Parthiban said that Craig refused to believe when he told him that Iravin Nizhal was a single-shot movie; he also considers it as a complement. The film's plot revolves around a middle aged man looking back at his complex life filled with mixed emotions.

According to Parthiban, what impressed Craig is the manner in which the various stages in the protagonist's life have been conveyed. He said, "We had erected around 50 sets on a huge space - getting the film done in this space in a single shot has been a big challenge. We had many rehearsals for the cast and crew before we went on floors."

Interestingly, a couple of days ago, Parthiban had shared a small video in which Craig was seen appreciating him. The Hollywood technician had said, "Parthiban's achievement in this film is quite something. The technical skill that it took to pull this off is very impressive."
