Parambrata Chatterjee starts filming his upcoming directorial Boudi Canteen

Parambrata Chatterjee is back with another directorial. The actor-turned-director has begun filming Boudi Canteen which also features him in a lead role along with Subhasree Ganguly, Soham Chakraborty, and Anusua Majumdar in pivotal roles.

According to the Bengali newspaper Ei Samay, a source said that the film is based on the journey of Asma Khan, an Indian-born British chef, played by Subhasree Ganguly. Her husband will be played by Parambrata.

Parambrata told the daily that the story of the film revolves around a married woman's existential struggle as a passionate cook. A huge segment of society views women as successful only when they accomplish similar results as men. This movie aims to show that a woman can be successful in anything she chooses to do. He also said that his character in the film battles with the parameters used to evaluate a man's worth.

Anusua Majumdar will be playing Ganguly's mother-in-law, and according to Parambrata, the clash between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law will be exceptional to watch. After working on several films, the filmmaker said he's really grown to love the challenge of bringing out the best in the actors.

The film is being shot in Kolkata by cinematographer Tiyash Sen, and the soundtrack is being composed by Joy Sarkar. Aritra Sen and Somasree Ghosh have written the story, while Samragnee Bandopadhyay has penned the dialogues.

Parambrata’s other directorial ventures include Lorai - Play to Live, Shonar Pahar, Sharate Aaj, Tiki Taka, Bony and Abhijaan. He is also working on another directorial venture Antidote, where the actor will get the stage to show his directorial prowess along with his acting skills.
