About Pappachan Olivilaanu
The movie centers around Pappachan, a jeep driver who idolises his father, Maathachan, a former shooter. However, Pappachan is a coward and struggles to earn the respect his father commands.
Eventually, Pappachan becomes involved in a bison hunting case that changes his life.
Throughout the story, the audience gets to see Pappachan's yearning for fame and greatness, despite being unskilled.
Sinto, the director, follows the pattern of Biju Menon's Veelimoonga, helmed by Jibu Jacob. Sinto has worked as an assistant director in Jibu's films like Mei Hoom Moosa.
Along with Saiju Kurup, the film also stars Vijayaraghavan, Prashant Alexander, Kottayam Nazeer, Darshana M Nair, Aju Varghese and Johny Antony. Srindaa is the female lead in the film that is scripted by the director himself.
Pappachan Olivilaanu is inspired by real-life incidents
In an interview with OTTplay, Saiju Kurup revealed that Pappachan Olivilaanu is inspired by a real incident from the director's childhood. The film is based on a police case in which many locals were suspects.
Saiju described his character, Pappachan, as someone who brags a lot; a slip of the tongue puts him in a difficult situation.

Earlier, the director had also said that the core idea of the film is based on a real incident but that he added romantic elements for commercial appeal.
Sinto did not initially choose Saiju to play Pappachan but zeroed in on him after Saiju asked him for a role on the sets of Mei Hoom Moosa in which Sinto was an assistant director.
