Pankaj Tripathi leaves for his village in Bihar as his 98-year-old father passes away
Actor Pankaj Tripathi's father Pandit Banaras Tiwari passed away today. He was 98 years old. Pankaj Tripathi was shooting for a film in Uttarakhand at the time of his father’s death. The actor immediately moved on to travel from Uttarakhand to Bihar (Belsand village to be specific). It was here where his father was living. As for Pankaj Tripathi, he was staying in Mumbai alongwith his wife and daughter.
A media note was sent by his representatives that stated, “Official statement on behalf of Pankaj Tripathi and his family. It’s with a heavy heart to confirm that Pankaj Tripathi’s father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari is no more. He lived a wholesome life of 99 years. His last rites will be performed today amongst his close family. Pankaj Tripathi is currently on his way to his village in Gopalganj”.
Actor Akshay Kumar took to social media and penned a heartfelt note in the memory of Pankaj Tripathi's father. Earlier, in an interview with The Mashable, the veteran actor Pankaj Tripathi had even spoken about how his father was unaware of his acting in films. Throwing light on this statement, Pankaj Tripathi said that his father had not seen how a film theatre looked from the inside. As for his work in films, Pankaj Tripathi revealed that his father got to see his work when anyone shows his work on either TV or even computer. He even added that they had only installed a television just recently in their house.
Looking back, Pankaj Tripathi had spoken about his relationship with his father in an interview with Hindustan Times. In the interview, he said that his father had wanted him to become a doctor. Throwing more light on the same, he said that, the place from where he was hailing there were only two professions viz. a doctor or an engineer. In the same interview, he said that his family had always supported his dreams of becoming an actor and that his family never wanted him to fulfil any of their unfulfilled dreams. He added that the main concern of his parents was that of his livelihood.
On the work front, Pankaj Tripathi’s latest work was seen in the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘OMG 2’, which also starred Yami Gautam as the leading lady.
