The Amazon Prime Video comedy show also stars Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik and others.
Actor Sanvikaa has won the hearts of the audience as Rinki in the popular comedy series Panchayat. She is now a 'national crush' and has been receiving several wedding proposals on her social media. The actor recently opened up about her journey and how she landed the role in the Jitendra Kumar-led show.
Sanvikaa was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and after completing her engineering, she moved to Bengaluru for a job but she never wanted to be an engineer. Speaking to indianexpress.com, Sanvikaa said she lied to her parents that she is moving to Bengaluru for a job when she was never interested in a 9 to 5 job. "I had kept my options open. And after a few months, I shifted to Mumbai and became an assistant director (costume). It was during the shootings of some ad films I thought of trying my hand at acting and started giving auditions," she said, adding that fortunately, she got selected in some auditions and acted in a few ad films.
But her parents were not convinced. They wanted her to have a stable job and used to keep sending her ads for job openings, asking her to apply for them. "Thankfully they didn’t ask me to get married as they gave me freedom to have a career,” she said.
And now, after appearing on Panchayat, life has changed for her. She said her parents have now stopped sending her job ads. Speaking about how she got a role in the TVF series, she said someone from the Casting Bay (the casting company for TVF) had approached her during one of her auditions, asking her to give a screen test for a small role in their series. She wasn't aware that it was for Panchayat. "Since it was for TVF, I was excited because I just wanted to get into the database of Casting Bay. Thankfully, I got the role. I was told in the first season, I will have a small role in the end and then the character will be extended in the second season,” she told the portal.
As she was born and lived in a village herself, she found it easier to prepare for the character. She said her childhood experience of staying in a village was a 'blessing'. But she was nervous to perform before the senior and National Award-winning actors like Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta. She said she was worried if she will be able to meet the expectations of the team now that TVF had shown faith in her. "I had to perform with Neena ji and Ragubhir sir. So it was difficult. However, they were very supportive. They used to give creative inputs to enhance my performance," she said and added that she was treated like a family by them. And now, like the audience, she is also very eagerly waiting for Season 3 of Panchayat.
Things have changed for her at home too. She said her family is very happy. "I am sure they must be getting wedding proposals for me. But I know they would cancel at that stage now,” she said.
Season 3 of the Amazon Prime Video series is now in the making. Meanwhile, binge-watch Season 1 and 2 on the platform.
