Bollywood and Journalism always had a sweet and sour relationship. Both these industries can’t survive without one another. You can see how journalism has motivated numerous filmmakers to create films about journalists or journalism because it is such an important aspect of our society. Aniruddha Roy Choudhury, a director with numerous national awards, directed this Kolkata-based, real-life-inspired movie. It tells the tale of a determined young criminal reporter who is looking for answers regarding the sudden disappearance of a young theatre activist. 2. Page 3 [Amazon Prime Video]:
Page 3 is a 2005 Indian drama film that was produced by Bobby Pushkarna and Kavita Pushkarna and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. It offers a realistic look at the entertainment industry and media culture in Bombay City. Starring in it are Boman Irani, Tara Sharma, Sandhya Mridul, Atul Kulkarni, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Tara Kulkarni. The film won three National Film Awards, including the Golden Lotus Award for Best Film.
3. No One Killed Jessica [Netflix]:
No One Killed Jessica is a thriller based on the high-profile - Jessica Lal murder case. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film basically follows the story of Jessica Lal’s sister Sabrina, who seeks justice for her sister & takes it upon herself to fight the system with the help of a crime reporter and organization called Middle Finger protests.
4. Peepli Live [Netflix]:
The 2010 Indian satirical black comedy film Peepli Live examines the issue of farmer suicides and the ensuing governmental and media response. Anusha Rizvi is the writer and director, while Aamir Khan Productions is the production company. Omkar Das Manikpuri, Naseeruddin Shah, Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa, and Malaika Shenoy are among the actors who appear in the movie.
5. Rann [MX Player]:
Directed by Ram Gopal Verma, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rann is a 2010 political thriller film revolving around journalism. The film tells the story of an ethical CEO of a TV channel who’s manipulated by his own son & son-in-law to frame a false story against the PM. Later he finds the ultimate truth and makes things right.
