The producer of Padmini had lashed out at Kunchacko Boban for his non-cooperation during the promotion of the film
Kunchacko Boban's latest release, Padmini, has been receiving positive feedback. But it has also been entangled in some controversies. After the film received a lukewarm response in theatres, producer Suvin K Varkey accused the lead actor of not participating in the promotions. According to Suvin, the actor was paid Rs 2.5 crore and still did not appear for any TV interviews.
Now, Madonna Sebastian, a lead actress in the film, has reacted to the controversy. And her response has been simple: that it is not her place to have an opinion on it.
"I think that I am not the one to comment on the issue. It is between the producer and the actor. The producer needs to talk about it. If you people have an opinion, you can say it," she said while talking to the media.
Madonna also remained mum when asked about the coincidence of the producer making allegations against the lead actor on the day of the film's release.
Director Senna Hegde also refrained from making any comments on the allegations levelled by the producer.
"We are technicians, and we have done our job. We have the result of the work that we have done. Apart from that, we are not the ones to comment on what is going on between the actor and producer. I am doing what I can for this film and am not interested in talking about other things," Senna said.
Earlier, Suvin wrote on his Facebook page about the responsibility of an actor to market his product. He said that marketing is crucial to attracting audiences to theatres. He also said that an actor depends on the verdict of the viewers.
Kunchacko Boban has not reacted to the allegations raised against him by the producer.
Helmed by Senna Hegde, who is known for his film Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, Padmini is a light-hearted entertainer. The movie tells the story of a college lecturer whose wife elopes on the day of their wedding. Madonna Sebastian, Vincy Aloshious, and Aparna Balamurali play the three female leads in the movie. The initial release of the movie was postponed due to heavy rains in Kerala. It is currently in theatres.
