When to watch Pachinko Season 2?

Pachinko Season 2 will be available to stream on August 23, 2024, on Apple TV+. For the uninitiated, Pachinko is based on Korean-American journalist and author Min Jin-Lee’s novel of the same name, which was published in 2017. The interesting thing about Season 2 is that actors Lee Min-Ho, Kim Min-Ha, and Young Yuh-Jung’s return as the main leads.

The plot of Pachinko Season 2

Season 2 is expected to dive deep into the multi-layered story as Kim Sun-Ja is in Osaka, facing the harsh realities of 1945 war-torn Japan. She's forced to make tough choices to ensure her family's survival amid national chaos. Meanwhile, the story jumps forward to 1989 Tokyo, where the future generation embraces a new and simple life.

Pachinko follows the life of a Korean family across four generations. Their story begins in the early 20th century, before World War II, as they make difficult decisions to leave their homeland and become immigrants in Japan. The narrative unfolds through the lives of various family disputes, showcasing their struggles and triumphs as they navigate a new environment.

What does the trailer of Season 2 show?

The trailer opens with Kim Sun-Ja (Kim Min-Ha) living a good life in 1945. Things seem calm, but the next moment, aeroplanes from the US Army fly over Japan, hinting at danger. Meanwhile, Koh Han-Su (Lee Min-Ho) returns to Sun-Ja's life after a long 14 years. He seems determined to keep their son safe anyhow. He wants to live with them again.

In the trailer, we get to see some emotional dialogue between Sun-Ja and Han-Su. “It's been a long time. How did you find me?" Sun-Ja asks Han-Su. Han-Su answers in a way that will surely make you wonder what he's really thinking. "I never forgot you,” he says.

These little interactions and the beautiful scenarios from ancient Japan, mixed with the modern day, are enough to make you eager for Pachinko Season 2’s release.
