This week, RJ Stutee talks about Tabbar, Rashmi Rocket, Sardar Udham, Little Things season 4 and Sanak.
If you have already devoured Squid Games, worry not. There is still a lot of stuff across OTT platforms to keep us hooked.
This week, shows like Tabbar and films like Sardar Udham are sure to make your weekend interesting. Here is a curated list you can choose from:
1. Tabbar
It literally means family and that’s the main focus here. An unassuming, close knit family that gets unwittingly embroiled in a messy situation. The Singh family patriarch then does everything he possibly can to protect his loved ones while dealing with his own past demons. Directed by AjitPal Singh this 8 part series draws us in from the first scene itself when we meet a middle-aged couple going about their day. This sweet, familiar setting which slowly enters darker territory as things spiral out of control. The writing and performances infuse the narrative with an energy that keeps the proceedings buoyant. Pawan Malhotra, Supriya Pathak, Gagan Arora, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Kanwaljeet Singh and Ranvir Shorey are all excellent and the authentic “punjabi “ miliue a welcome change from the caricaturish portrayl that Bollywood keeps thrusting on us. You can watch it on SonyLiv.
2. Rashmi Rocket
Rashmi Rocket takes on the issue of gender testing in sports admirably and effectively. Directed by Akarsh Khurana and written by Aniruddha Guha it does a good job of keeping us hooked till the finish line. Taapsee Pannu plays Rashmi a girl who runs so fast that she earns for herself the sobriquet “rocket”. However, the dream run comes to a screeching halt when she fails a gender test. The ensemble cast of Abhishek Banerjee, Priyanshu Painyuli and Supriya Pilgaonker make it richer. Watch it on Zee5
3. Sardar Udham
Shoojit Sircar’s latest directorial venture is a biopic on Udham Singh, revolutionary freedom fighter who assassinated Michael O'Dwyer in London to take revenge for 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. Vickey Kaushal plays Sardar Udham and this period film looks rivetting atleast from the trailer. Vicky Kaushal has proved what a fine actor he is and Shoojit’s mastery over his skill in never in doubt. You can catch it on Amazon Prime video.
4. Little Things S4
Our favorite couple with all their cuteness intact is back for a final season. Dhruv and Kavya and the little world they created looks as inviting as ever. We have seen them grow and their relationship blossom and in the finale we witness them trying to navigating through few tough situations as they prepare to take the plunge. Dhruv Sehgal Mithila Palkar have an endearing chemistry that frankly is the reason why we all find ourselves rooting for them. Love, nostalgia and the sweet little things that make a relationship, the finale season shouldn’t be missed on Netflix.
5. Sanak
If there is Vidyut Jammwal then there will obviously be tons of action. And if this is what you enjoy then make sure you catch his latest on Disney+ Hotstar. Vivaan aka Vidyut Jammwal’s ailing wife is admitted in the hospital for treatment. However a hostage drama unfolds soon enough and innocent lives are at risk as a bunch of terrorists, lead by Saju Solanki (Chandan Roy Sanyal), plan to rescue a fellow criminal. The Police get involved, impressive stunt sequences keep us hooked and enough opportunity for our swashbuckling hero to display his daredevilry.
