Lots of new exciting stuff on OTT this week. Here’s our curated list to help you identify your binge for the week:

1. Looop Lapeta – Based on German experimental thriller Run Lola Run, Looop Lapeta has been directed by Aakash Bhatia and has Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin in the lead. It’s a simple premise where Savi gets a frantic call from her boyfriend who has lost 50 lakh rupees. The only way to save his life now is to somehow manage to get the money in 50mins! This plays out in 3 different scenarios each one with recurring motifs and characters but with slight tweak in the course of action. Touching of themes of free will vs determinism, the butterfly effect Looop Lapeta is a playful elective film with an innovative mix of visuals and background score to keep us hooked. Taapsee in particular is in top form. Watch it on Netflix.

2. Rocket Boys –Sony LIV’s newest original series is an ambitious retelling of history. Starring Jim Sarbh, Ishwak Singh and Regina Cassandra, the story sheds light on the great minds Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. Set against the backdrop of a brave new India post-Independence, the show revolves around how Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai worked towards great scientific discoveries that we are so proud of today. Rocket Boys is an ode to these brilliant men of science. Actor Ishwak Singh plays Dr Sarabhai and Jim Sarbh essays the role of Dr Homi Bhabha. Created by Nikkhil Advani and directed by Abhay Pannu, the series also stars Regina Cassandra, Rajat Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Saba Azad and Arjun Radhakrishnan in pivotal roles. The story spans 3 decades and is commendably made with the set design and props transporting us back in time.

3. The Great Indian Murder – An Indian crime mystery thriller, this 9 episodes series is streaming on Disney +Hotstar. Richa Chadha and Pratik Gandhi are tasked with the responsibility to investigate the death of a minister’s (Ashutosh Rana) son. The six suspects of the high profile murder include a waiter (Shashank Arora) who was at the party where the murder happened, a man (Raghubir Yadav) who thinks of himself as the Mahatma of today, and the Chief Minister of the state whom Rana’s character wants to dethrone. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia it is based on the novel Six Suspects by writer Vikas Swarup. All episodes of The Great Indian Murder will release at once on Hulu and Disney+Hotstar.

4. One Cut Two Cut – This 88 min Kannada film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Vamsidhar Bhogaraju, One Cut Two Cut stars Danish Sait in the lead role. It revolves around an art and crafts teacher Gopi (Sait) who has to save his school from four radical social media activists who have taken it hostage on his first day. The film also stars Prakash Belawadi, Samyukta Hornad, Vineeth ‘Beep’ Kumar, and Sampath Maitreya, in pivotal roles. Through characters that appear caricatures, it provides a sharp satire on the education system.

5. Suspicion - Starring Uma Thurman, Kunal Nayyar and Georgina Campbell, the thriller is based on the Israeli thriller TV series False Flag. When the only son of media mogul Catherine Newman gets kidnapped, the NYPD starts the investigation and shortlists five candidates who might be behind this. However, all claim to be innocent. The video of the masked assailants kidnapping him from outside his hotel room is leaked and the investigating officers are under immense pressure. The momentum does pick up in the second half as the unrelated accused Britishers are finally forced together to fight for their lives. Failing IT expert Aadesh Chopra (Kunal Nayyar), Oxford University researcher and professor Tara McAllister (Elizabeth Henstridge), bank financier Natalie Thompson (Georgina Campbell), and Leo’s fellow Oxford student Eddie Walker (Tom Rhys Harries) team up to prove their innocence. With its 8 episode run time Suspicion tries to unravel the mystery and keep us hooked. It’s on AppleTV+.
