OTT release time of Dhanush, Malavika Mohanan's Maaran on Disney+ Hotstar: Details inside

Karthick Naren's Maaran is all set for an OTT release on March 11. The action thriller, which began shooting last year, has Dhanush and Malavika Mohanan playing lead roles in it. Both of them will be seen essaying journalists in the movie which has music composed by GV Prakash.

The makers had officially announced the decision to skip theatrical release of the project earlier this year. Maaran is Dhanush's third continuous direct-to-OTT release after Jagame Thandhiram and Atrangi Re. The team has released three singles from the film, and each of them belongs to different genres. They have also unveiled the jukebox now which includes the songs and a theme music.

Sathya Jyothi Films, the production house which has bankrolled the project, has now come up with another exciting and unexpected update on the movie's release. They have revealed that the film will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 5 pm. This is quite unusual as most of the films and shows on the platform start streaming from either 12 am or 12 pm.

Fans of Dhanush who were hopeful of catching the movie from tonight took to Twitter to express their surprise over the unexpected streaming time of the film.

Samuthirakani, Smruthi Venkat and Master Mahendran are other actors who have essayed pivotal roles in the project which has cinematography by Vivekanand Santhosham and editing by Prasanna GK. The movie's screenplay has been written by Karthick, along with Suhas, Sharfu and Vivek.

Maaran is director Karthick's second OTT project. His previous outing, Project Agni, a segment of Navarasa, had a direct release on Netflix last year. His last theatrical release was Arun Vijay-starrer Mafia (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). He has announced his next project, Nirangal Moondru, recently even as his sophomore film Naragasooran is yet to see the light of the day.
