OTT platform ZEE5 all set to stream THESE four new hard-hitting documentaries
Iam Greta

After the runaway success of the Oscar nominated docudrama – Flee, the OTT major ZEE5 is now all gearing up to strengthen its diverse content library documentaries. As a part of its SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) slate, the OTT platform has announced four films, which include ‘I am Greta’, ‘The Dissident’, ‘The Kingmaker’ and ‘Armed with Faith’.

I am Greta
This is a documentary which has been directed by Nathan Grossman. This documentary has been based on the Sweden based teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg. The documentary is based on her international crusade in order to get people to listen to scientists about the world's environmental problems. The documentary mirrors Greta's unwavering determination and also the global impact, which is all about a poignant exploration of the power of youth activism in the face of the climate crisis.

Speaking about the documentary, Greta Thunberg in a media statement said, “People always tell us that young people are going to save the world, but there is simply not enough time to wait. When it came to the climate crisis, I saw my parents, which, just like everyone else, we were not doing enough. For many years, people refused to listen to me, children were very mean, but I don't care about being popular; I care about climate justice. When I get interested in a subject, I become laser-focused. My name is Greta Thunberg, and I want you to panic. We are in the midst of a mass extinction; time is running out. What we are doing now, future generations can't change. Despite all the beautiful words and promises, our political leaders have failed us. Nothing is happening, so we must do what we can. We will not stop until we are done."

The Dissident
‘The Dissident’, which has been directed by the Academy Award winning filmmaker Bryan Fogel, also happened to be the official selection at the ‘Sundance Film Festival’ of 2020. The film, which happens to be a real-life story, was based on Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington DC journalist who had disappeared in Istanbul and his fiancée and dissidents around the world piece together the clues to a murder and expose a global cover up.

The Kingmaker
‘The Kingmaker’ has been written and directed by Lauren Greenfield. The film examines the controversial history of Imelda Marcos, the Filipino politician and her family. This documentary tells a cautionary tale of a powerful leader whose questionable sense of reality divided the Philippines.

Armed With Faith
This film was the official selection at the ‘Vancouver International Film Festival’, ‘Sheffield Doc Fest’ and also ‘Doc NYC’. The film, which takes the audiences to the Afghan-Pakistani border of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where landmines and suicide bombings are a harsh reality, had been directed and produced by the award-winning filmmakers Asad Faruqi and Geeta Gandbhir.

This film sees Asad Faruqi and Geeta Gandbhir reveal the untold stories of those living amidst violence and turmoil. They also demonstrated that the real war was often fought within the confines of their homes.
