Osomoye-actress Tasnia Farin: I am keen to work more in Bengal

Bangladeshi actress Tasnia Farin’s performance in Kajal Arefin Ome’s Osomoye has been lauded. The web film that is streaming on Bongo delves into the life of a young girl, Urbee, from a humble background. Her life changes when she takes admission to a private college. Her affluent classmates start influencing her life. In a chat, she talks about Asomoye.

Tasnia said that she agreed to work in the film as soon as the director approached her. She worked with Kajal Arefin Ome before. The actress collaborated with the director in a project, Ex-Boyfriend, that has been lauded by the audience. She considered Ex-Boyfriend a ‘turning point in her career. She admitted that she had full faith in him.

“I blindly agreed without even knowing the story because I had my trust in him. Then obviously we sat down together, discussed the story and I found out more about it,” she said.

Tasnia further said that her character in Osomoye is an interesting one. “I don't know why I’ve never been approached with a story like this before. It is such a relatable content. It is simple and yet an important story for the time that we are going through right now. It is a perfect representation of the current restlessness,” she said.

Tasnia became a popular face in West Bengal after she worked in the Hoichoi web series Karagar and Atanu Ghosh’s film, Aaro Ek Prithibi. The actress intends to work more in Bengal. The actress believes that it is because of globalisation that the works of artistes are getting widely acknowledged. “I am very much interested in working with many directors from Kolkata. But obviously, it doesn’t only depend on me. They have to come to me with a good script. I would love to collaborate once again after Aaro Ek Prithibi. I would love to work on scripts that are close to human nature and yet the characters have a global appeal,” she said.
