Featuring Hollywood actor Mads Mikkelsen, the Danish film won the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film,
Mads Mikkelson's Another Round, the Academy Award-winning Danish comedy-drama, is all set to release on May 20 on Amazon Prime Video.
The Thomas Vinterberg directorial is the second Oscar-winning film, after Minari, that Amazon Prime Video will be dropping this month.
Another Round, which won the Academy Award for the Best International Feature Film, revolves around a group of friends who after losing interest in their teaching jobs start an experiment by drinking alcohol during the day to see how it affects their personal and professional lives.
In a press release, Vijay Subramaniam, head of content, Amazon Prime Video, India, said, “We are thrilled to announce the digital premiere of two celebrated films, Minari and Another Round. Both the films are critically acclaimed and deal with issues that are relevant and bound to resonate with audiences."
Meanwhile, the Hollywood remake of Another Round is in the works, with Leonardo DiCaprio rumoured to portray Mikkelsen's part.
In a recent interview with Indie Wire, Mikkelsen, who would not be part of the remake, said, "I'm glad not to be part of it. Unlike theatre, where you can do it one year and do it again a couple years later, the little moments we do in films are happening right here and now — something interesting your fellow actor brings on set that day. I would probably want to change these scenes again. It can never happen. It's a tricky thing to replay the same character. It's better off in someone else's hands."
