The 35-year-old star won the Oscar in the Best Actress category for her performance in Poor Things – a film that details the life of a woman seeking liberation from prejudices. Though she was on cloud nine during the entire event, a development – however – did not apparently go down well with her. Reportedly, famous comedian and television host Jimmy Kimmel joked about the film Poor Things being just about sex. Here is what happened next.

At the 96th Academy Awards, Jimmy Kimmel entertained the audience present at the event. He talked about the political atmosphere in the US and joked about it. Later, he drove the conversation to the projects nominated for the award. Jimmy, in an attempt to make it sound funny, said that the film Poor Things is just about sex.

“Emma Stone played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night,” said Jimmy.

Upon hearing this, Emma, who was seated in the front row of the event, whispered to the person sitting beside her about the comment. Though the exact words cannot be decoded, netizens feel that Emma called Jimmy a ‘prick’.

“I don’t think Emma was happy with Jimmy’s joke. Just look at her expressions!” wrote one social media user on microblogging site X. Another X user said, “Did Emma Stone just roll her eyes at Jimmy Kimmel? Wow!”
