Robert Downey Jr's portrayal of Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer has broug ht him his first Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category. The actor's speech upon receiving his first Oscar went viral on the internet, and has been hailed as the best in years. Netizens dubbed it the 'GOAT’ speech, while Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan termed it as 'genius'.
Using applause, lovestruck eyes and laughing emoticons, Kareena Kapoor Khan posted this speech of Downey on her Instagram stories, calling it 'genius'. Crew actress Kareena is said to be a big Robert Downey Jr fan; hence her applause-filled reaction to one of her favourite actors is no surprise.
Instagram users also joined in congratulating the Oppenheimer actor for winning his first Oscar ever and showered appreciation on his viral acceptance speech.
One of them wrote, " No way! The most popular actor won the popularity contest award." Another user mentioned, " Bro is the mood🙌🙌🙌🔥". A third one wrote on Twitter, "Robert Downey Jr losing an Oscar to Heath Ledger in 2009, and winning it in a #ChristopherNolan movie is poetic."
Several others also dropped heart and fire emojis in support of Robert's Oscar speech video available on Instagram.
He began his Oscar-winning speech by saying, "I'd like to thank my terrible childhood and The Academy..in that order," and quickly thanked his “veterinarian..err..wife Susan Downey, who brought me back to life with a snarling refuge pet,” which is why he was there. He further said, "I needed this job more than it needed me. Chris knew it, Emma made sure she wrapped and surrounded me with one of the greatest cast and crews of all time - Emily, Cillian, Matt Damon... it was fantastic, and I stand here before you a better man because of it. You know, what we do is meaningful, and the stuff that we decide to make is important."

For his role in Chaplin, Downey was nominated for an Oscar in 1993, but he failed to win. The actor recently expressed his gratitude for not winning in 1993. Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy, who played the theoretical physicist in Oppenheimer, took home the Oscar for Best Actor.
