The track made history by becoming the first Indian song from an Indian production to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
The 95th Academy Awards saw history being made for a number of reasons. One of them was when RRR song Naatu Naatu bagged the Oscar for Best Original Song, becoming the first ever song from an Indian production to win the award.The song was performed live at the event, with Deepika Padukone introducing the same, and the performance received a standing ovation. It was a proud moment when M.M. Keeravaani and Chandrabose, who composed and wrote the film respectively, took to the stage to receive the award, cheered on by the world, and the RRR team who attended the event, including director SS Rajamouli and stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan. Both the performance of the song, as well as its award winning moment, received standing ovations from the audiences.
Fans could not keep calm with the way RRR made the country proud, and flocked to Twitter to express their joy. “Congrats is a small word for a RRRemarkable achievement that shall be cherished n celebrated foreveRRR (sic)”, wrote one user. “Congratulations to the whole team of #RRRForOscars, History is made!!!! Proud moment to India and to the Telugu film industry…”, wrote another.

The makers of the film too expressed their elation at RRR’s historic win. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too extended his wishes to the entire team behind the film for the win.
SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus had created history before, when Naatu Naatu also bagged the Golden Globe award for Best Original song as well. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris also star in the film, which centres around the fictional story of real life Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
