Mukesh Khanna had announced that Shaktimaan is being adapted into a film
Shaktimaan means only one man, Mukesh Khanna. However, some reports suggested that actor Ranveer Singh was replacing him for the role of the iconic Indian superhero. Mukesh has now spoken about the same.
Mukesh cleared the air on his YouTube channel, Bheeshm. “The big question is, will I be Shaktimaan? Who will play it? I can’t reveal. But it is a commercial film, so it involves a lot of commercial talks. But main rahuga, mere bagair toh Shaktimaan nahi ban sakti ye sabko pata hai (I will be in the film, Shaktimaan can’t be made without me, everyone knows),” he said. The actor further promised that an official announcement about the cast and crew would be made soon.
He revealed that the contract has been signed and the movie would cost around Rs. 200-300 crores because it is a big budget film being bankrolled by Sony Pictures, who last worked on Spider-Man.
The actor had announced that Shaktimaan is being adapted from the big screen long ago. He updated his fans about the delay and said that was because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shaktimaan was introduced to the Indian audiences in 1997. He was the first superhero on Indian Television. His show, Shaktimaan, aired on the oldest Indian TV channel today, Doordarshan (DD National).
Apart from Shaktimaan, Mukesh played the role of Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, Major Ranjeet Singh, Shree Satya and Evil Clone Shaktimaan on the show. The TV show also saw a special appearance by late comedian Raju Srivastav. He played the second editor of Aaj Ki Awaaz. Other prominent names on the show include Tom Alter, Gajendra Chauhan, Ashwini Kalsekar, Deepshika Nagpal and Urvashi Dholakia.
