While the past several months before the Hollywood strikes kicked off were dedicated to the casting rumors of the main family of four from the Fantastic Four Reboot, it seems like the post-strike months are for the villains. While the studio is yet to announce which actors will play the main four, and rumors have literally left us all confused, the limelight is on the baddies of the reboot, especially Doctor Doom, because, you know, he might replace Kang. It turns out the studio is now eyeing Cillian Murphy to play the part.
Last we checked, Mads Mikkelsen was being considered to play Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four Reboot. But it seems like a lot has changed at the studio in a week, and now rumors suggest that the Marvel bosses want "Oppenheimer" star Cillian Murphy to play the part. According to a scooper who goes by the handle My Time To Shine Hello on X (formerly called Twitter), Murphy is now the top choice for the studio.
However, this is not the first time we are hearing Cillian Murphy attached to playing Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four. But this is very well a strong rumor, and it seems like the studio has moved on from Mads Mikkelsen after he probably refused to play the part. Meanwhile, these two aren’t the only people who are attached to the part.
In the past, we have heard Ryan Gosling, Josh Hartnett, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Clarke (another "Oppenheimer" star), and a few more, including Henry Cavill long back, attached to the same. There is no confirmation about anything in the Fantastic Four Reboot zone of Marvel, which means everything should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Talking about the movie, Matt Shakman is in charge of shaping the reboot, and we have heard that the studio has approached Pedro Pascal to play Reed Richards. Vanessa Kirby is locked for Sue Storm. Fantastic Four Reboot is set to hit the screens on May 2, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
