Only Murders in the Building Season 3: Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd take the mystery up a notch

Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are back with one more murder mystery.

A teaser that played during the Oscars gave viewers the first peek at Meryl Streep in Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building on Disney+ Hotstar.

After calling Streep a surprise you never saw coming, the 30-second short pans to the Oscar winner stumbling over a line during what seems to be a table read. "Oh my god, it’s me!" Streep says between fits of uncomfortable laughter, "Oh, I’m so sorry. It’s me, isn’t it?"

In the crime drama Only Murders in the Building Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez play Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, three strangers who are crazy about true crimes. They get caught up in one of the crimes they are so interested in. When a strange death happens in their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the three of them set out to find the killer and find out the truth. The three explain the complex mysteries of the building, which date back years, as they record their podcast about the case.

At the start of the third season, the three try to figure out who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd). Glenroy passed away onstage as he and Charles were performing in a Broadway play in the final episode of Season 2, which was shown in August.

A video on Instagram uploaded by Gomez's account in January announced Streep's appointment. She is acknowledged as playing a recurring role.

Martin and John Hoffman, who also wrote it, made Only Murders in the Building. Jess Rosenthal, Martin, and Hoffman are executive producers, along with Short, Gomez, and This Is Us writer Dan Fogelman. The company producing the show is 20th Television.

The show has been nominated for several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Martin and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for Short.
