One Day has finally dropped its trailer and fans cannot keep calm as the clip offers a promising glimpse of the known plot, with a deeper focus on its source material, David Nicholl’s novel One Day (2009). The 2011 adaptation of One Day was a popular one, starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, though it received a mixed bag of reviews from critics.
The new series One Day, starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall as the leading pair, Emma and Dex, and their friends-to-lovers story, spans two decades. Set to drop on Netflix, One Day will stream all 14 episodes at once, from February 8, 2024, onwards, right in time for Valentine’s Week.
The trailer for One Day offers a vignette-like look at the episodic incidents and moments spent by Emma and Dex, whether together or apart, all centred around July 15th of every passing year. Since their momentous first meeting at their graduation party on July 15, 1988, the paths of Emma and Dex have crossed forever, despite being poles apart.

As the years go by, some are spent platonically together, some are spent as friends, some apart and in anger or grief, and the rest are uneventful but still memorable because of their unbreakable bond that can withstand distance and fights but not the other’s absence forever. Emma wishes to change the world, while Dex simply wants to make money. As they grow older and more mature, they experience joy and heartbreak and slowly understand the true meaning of love and connection.
Thanks to the TV show approach, One Day aspires to be more intricate and sincere with the plot. Also, Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall’s chemistry is evident from the intense moments of longing and eye contact that they share in the trailer, as well as their steamy make-out sessions. But most importantly, One Day shows that love is a process of falling for a person over and over again, throughout your life.
