Music composer Santhosh Narayanan has confirmed that he will score the music for Prabhas-starter Project K.
Music composer Santhosh Narayanan on Wednesday coinciding with the Ugadi festival confirmed that he will be scoring the music for Project K. The much-awaited science-fiction, stars Prabhas in the lead role and it's being made on a whopping budget.
Santhosh shared the excitement on his Twitter page and tweeted, "Cherish when your dreams do become reality ! #HappyUgadi2023."
So far, Santhosh's association with the project was only considered a rumour stemming from the grapevine. Originally, the producers had roped in composer Mickey J Meyer to take care of the movie's score. However, he was dropped from the project for reasons best known to the filmmakers. Mickey had also scored music for director Nag Ashwin's breakout hit Mahanati and his directorial debut Yevade Sumbramanyam.
Project K went into production in 2021. However, the reports of Santhosh replacing Mickey emerged only in February. With the film set to open in January next year , it's going to be a herculean task for Santhosh to finish scoring for the movie on time.
It's also going to test Santhosh's ability to score for a movie that falls outside the scope of genres he has worked on so far. He's known for scoring folk numbers. With Project K being a science-fiction, it would be interesting to see how he would apply his skills in this genre.
Project K is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. Billed as one of the most expensive films in the history of Indian cinema, the movie is bankrolled under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies. Besides Prabhas, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.
The production is going on at full speed in the futuristic sets built at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
Amitabh Bachchan was recently injured while shooting for the movie. And he's recovering back at his home in Mumbai.
