Seven big movies, produced by NBC Universal, are set to release in the next two months

The next two months will be nothing short of a celebration for movie lovers in the country, if theatres reopen. NBC Universal recently revealed its line-up of movies that will be heading for theatrical release along with the release dates.

The media company has announced its plans to release seven movies, a few of them part of popular franchises, in Indian theatres starting from August 6 and running till September 17.

Here is the list of the much-anticipated movies and their release dates.

1. Promising Young Woman: August 6

Starring Carey Mulligan, Promising Young Woman revolves around the story of a 30-year-old medical school dropout, who spends her days teaching men a lesson in consent. When she learns that a person responsible for a tragedy from her past is getting married, she decides to exact revenge.

2. Old: August 13

A thriller by M Night Shyamalan, Old is based on a graphic novel called Sandcastle. The film tells the story of a family who goes on vacation with a group of people to a secluded beach. While there, the vacationers start to age rapidly and must escape the place before it’s too late.

3. Fast & Furious 9: August 19

After forcing his brother to leave town on the suspicion of killing his father, racer Dominic Toretto lives a peaceful life in retirement, with his wife and son. But when his brother returns and teams up with an old enemy to exact revenge, Dom must join hands with his allies to foil their plans. The film is the ninth instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise.

4. The Croods: A New Age: August 27

The sequel to the 2013 The Croods, this film follows the continuing adventures of the Crood family along with Guy, a young boy whom they met in the first movie and travels with them. The movie features the voice talents of Nicholas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds and Peter Dinklage.

5. Nobody: August 27

When Hutch Mansell, an office worker living a mundane existence, sees a woman being harassed by a group of men, he intervenes and beats them up. He later realises that one of the men he beat up was the brother of a crime lord, who wants revenge for his brother’s humiliation, leaving Mansell with a target on his back.

6. The Boss Baby: Family Business: September 10

A sequel to The Boss Baby, this film tells the story of the Templeton brothers, now grown-ups, who are approached by a new boss baby to be part of an undercover mission. But the catch is, the adult brothers will have to be transformed into their younger selves to do it.

7. The Forever Purge: September 17

The Forever Purge is the fifth installment in the Purge franchise. An annual event wherein all crime becomes legal for a night, called the purge, is reinstated by the new US Government. But things get complicated when some people decide that they want the purge to go on for a bit longer, forever.
