Kapil Kapilan, Chinmayi Sripada have crooned for the number lyricised by Krishnakanth
There’s immense anticipation around Sita Ramam, the period romance starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur in key roles. The Hanu Raghavapudi directorial has been a feast for music buffs and all the three songs released to date, Kaanunna Kalyanam, Inthandham and Oh Rama Hey Sita, have been instant chartbusters. The fourth song from the film, Oh Prema, was launched today.
If the three singles from Sita Ramam were in the feel-good space and all lovey-dovey, Oh Prema brings an emotional depth to the album. The song elaborates on the pain of separation experienced by two lovers in unusual circumstances. Going by the lyrics, it seems that none of them has a choice about it. There’s an air of helplessness in the expressions of Dulquer and Mrunal.
The number takes us through the happy moments of the couple and voices their trauma while also dealing with the inevitable separation. Kapil Kapilam and Chinmayi Sripada are a league apart in creating a gloomy vibe around the composition with their sensitive, delicate rendition. Krishnakanth is certainly in the form of his life striking a perfect balance between wordplay and thought.
The song was also performed in a special episode aired on ETV recently, focusing on the music of Sita Ramam. The remaining songs from the album are expected to be launched later this week and it’s likely that a few numbers may be out after the theatrical release as well. There have been very few films in the recent past where music plays such a key role in the storytelling.
Vishal Chandrasekhar has composed the music for the film. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor while PS Vinod and Shreyaas Krishnan are the cinematographers. Sunil Babu is the art director. The film is releasing simultaneously in three languages - Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Amazon Prime has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights.
