Etharkkum Thunindhavan is Suriya's theatrical release after more than two years. His last theatrical release was KV Anand's Kaappaan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). His subsequent releases, Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim, had direct releases on Amazon Prime Video.
Apart from Tamil, the movie will be dubbed and released in Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu languages as well, under the title ET. The announcement regarding the same was made by the makers a while ago. Etharkkum Thunindhavan is Suriya's 40th project as an actor.
