Sudesh told ToI that the plot of Joy Kali Kolkattawali is about three friends Anish, Sujay and Mili. The three hail from good families but haven’t found any job, so they take to stealing to earn their pocket money and enjoy life on their own terms. “Amid all these, a kali murti goes missing in the city and the three friends meet a girl from a middle-class family who runs a dance school,” Nusrat told to the daily, while also adding that Anish played by Soham and Raka played by her from the group are friends initially but then they fall in love. The crux of the plot lies in what happens when Raka comes to know about what Soham is up to.
Somraj Maity will play Sujay and Sushmita Chatterjee will play Mili. Kanchan Mullick, Sudip Mukherjee, Padmanabha Dasgupta will also be seen in the film.
