The daughter of Telugu star and former Andhra Pradesh CM was found dead at her residence earlier today
Tragedy struck the Nandamuri family today when the youngest daughter of NTR, Uma Maheswari, died by suicide at her residence. She was 57. Uma Maheswari's daughter and her son-in-law failed to elicit any response from her in the bedroom and the duo had to break open the door. The police official also confirmed that they found her hanging from the ceiling fan. Depression is believed to be the reason behind the drastic step. The Jubilee Hills cops have a registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC (Suicide).
Chandrababu Naidu's son Lokesh immediately rushed to Maheshwari's home soon after hearing the news, a report by Deccan Herald states. A post-mortem on her body was conducted at the Osmania General Hospital. Maheswari's eyes were reportedly extracted for donation while her cremation is expected to be held on Wednesday. She is married to Dr Srinivasa Rao and is a mother to two daughters - one of them is believed to have settled in the US.
Being the youngest girl in the family, Uma Maheswari was still in her school when most of her siblings were already married. She spent a majority of her early years in the company of her mother Basava Tarakam, given the phase coincided with the time her father and film star, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, decided to take a political plunge. As a child, Uma Maheswari was believed to be the most silent person in the NTR household, overshadowed by her popular siblings and actor-politician father.
Uma Maheswari lost her mother to cancer at a young age and it left a deep impact on her. She made very few public appearances generally. Her other siblings were politician Chandrababu Naidu's wife Bhuvaneshwari, politician D Purandeshwari, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Harikrishna, Jayakrishna, Lokeswari, Ramakrishna, Mohanakrishna, Saikrishna, to name a few.
