The film was earlier meant to be a reunion of team Roberrt.

Not Darshan, but Dhananjaya to play freedom fighter Sindhura Lakshmana?
Darshan's falling out with the producer has opened up the role for Dhananjaya

Back in 2020, when Challenging Star Darshan’s Roberrt came out, the buzz was that the actor would collaborate with director Tarun Sudhir and producer Umapathy Srinivas yet again. This time around, the trio was set to tackle a historical subject, a genre that Darshan has been quoted as saying that he has a soft spot for. Tarun’s choice of subject was Sindhura Lakshmana, the freedom fighter from Karnataka. The title was registered and everything seemed set for them to work together again, but then, Darshan and Umapathy had an alleged falling out following a cheating and extortion case.

While Darshan is still working with Tarun, it is a film produced by Rockline Venkatesh now and not Umapathy. Since Umapathy still holds the title Sindhura Lakshmana, the buzz in industry circles now is that he is looking at going ahead with making the film after all, but with a new leading man at the helm. Daali Dhananjaya’s name is currently in the forefront. For the actor, who has played real-life characters earlier – Allama Prabhu and MP Jayaraj – a freedom fighter’s role would be new and rumour has it that Dhananjaya is quite excited about the opportunity.

Filming on Sindhura Lakshma will begin sometime in mid-2023 only as Tarun is busy with his as-yet-untitled movie with Darshan, #D56, in which is introducing Action Queen Malashree’s daughter, Radhana Ram, to Sandalwood. Dhananjaya also has to finish his current acting commitments. Right now, the actor is working on Hoysala, his Belagavi-based cop film, which is his second collaboration with Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj of KRG Studios. Amrutha Iyengar is the female lead in the film. Thereafter, he begins work on Uttarakaanda, also a KRG Studios production, but one that reunites him with Rathnan Prapancha maker Rohit Padaki. The film, about the gangs of North Karnataka, will serve as Queen Bee Ramya’s comeback vehicle.
