No Vijay Sethupathi in The Family Man 3, confirms DK

The co-creator of the Amazon Prime Video series confirmed to OTTplay that the Tamil star is not in discussions to star in the third instalment of the spy thriller show,

Speculations were rife that Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the co-creators of the hugely successful web series The Family Man, was set to rope in Vijay Sethupathi for its third season. Some media outlets had also reported that the Tamil star is in talks to sign the deal.

However, when we reached out to DK, he denied that Sethupathi is part of The Family Man 3, which is yet to go on floors. The filmmaker admitted that it was conjecture based on Sethupathi working on another upcoming web series of the duo that also has Shahid Kapoor and Raashi Khanna.

Sethupathi is also set for his Bollywood debut with Santosh Sivan’s directorial Mumbaikar. The film, which also has Vikrant Massey and Ranvir Shorey, has him playing a Tamilian who moves to Mumbai. Mumbaikar is the remake of the Tamil movie, Maanagaram.

Raj and DK, meanwhile, are busy with two productions. The duo is also set to helm the Indian version of the Russo Brothers’ Citadel. It wouldn’t be amiss if the upcoming projects of the duo have a few stars from the South as well.

In an earlier interview, while talking about the casting of The Family Man, DK had told us, “Our aim was to do a pan-Indian show with representation from across the country. That’s why we had characters from Kerala and Kashmir. We wanted the marriage of leads too to be intercultural; Suchitra (Priya Mani) is from Tamil Nadu and Srikant (Manoj Bajpayee) from UP. We wanted to show India as it is, a melting pot of cultures. Once we had the characters in place, then it was about casting true to form. This is what we did in season 2 as well.”
