Golden Star Ganesh’s Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi will be in theatres on August 15
In the promotional strategy of a film, teasers and trailers play a very important role – in fact, they can go so far as to make or break its prospects at the box office. One film team, though, is not taking that route in its upcoming release publicity. Golden Star Ganesh’s upcoming family entertainer romantic drama Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, which will be in theatres on August 15, will not have a teaser or trailer out ahead of the film’s release.
Srinivasa Raju on Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi: Only Ganesh could do the role because…
Speaking to Power TV, director Srinivasa Raju explained why he was going against the trend with Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi. “The purpose of a teaser and trailer is to introduce a film and provide a glimpse of what is in store. The purpose of publicity is to reach audiences and for a love story that job rests with the music. Songs are the invitation card for a love story and I am using just that to get to the target audience,” says the filmmaker, adding that he is not keen to reveal anything about the narrative just yet.
So far, 3 of the 6 songs by Arjun Janya have been released and they have all been very well received. Srinivasa Raju adds that a teaser/trailer is also more of a formality. The filmmaker harks back to the 80s and 90s when films were released without a teaser or trailer and were released on the strength of the music alone.

“Now, we are digging our own graves. When you cut a teaser/trailer, you want to highlight the best shots, dialogues. The audience sees that and has a certain perception of the film and comes with expectations. It could also create a certain hype for the film. I am leaving my audience a blank canvas to imagine anything they want. As it is everyone knows that it is a love story,” he adds.
