Written and directed by Gene Stupnitsky, Jennifer Lawrence's No Hard Feelings revolves around the 30-something female lead, who has serious commitment issues.
Are R-rated comedies dead at the box office? It was the existential question that seemed to have occupied the filmmakers and actors after a poor opening for Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence's latest sex comedy No Hard Feelings.
Written and directed by Gene Stupnitsky, the movie revolves around the 30-something female lead, who has serious commitment issues.

As the title suggests, the movie is replete with plenty of double entendres such 'date date'. This marks a refreshing departure for Jennifer Lawrence, who veers from her more serious roles in films such as Mother! and Red Sparrow. Despite its global release in June, the film garnered an underwhelming response at the box office, both overseas and notably within the US market.
Box office disappointment
No Hard Feelings didn't meet commercial expectations despite its status as a star vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence. However, the movie managed to receive positive reviews from the critics, which boosted the movie's performance at the box office after a tepid debut. However, it was not enough. According to reports, No Hard Feelings grossed only $15 million on its opening weekend, which is way below its star cast and budget. At $45 million, this movie is conserved because of the expensive productions in the R-rated comedy genres. Even after receiving a favourable response from the critics, the movie only managed to earn $85 million from its worldwide ticket sales, which is touted as a loss venture for the producers.

Hilarious trailer
Judging from the trailer, Jennifer Lawrence plays a single woman named Maddie Barker. She is hopping from one job to another as she doesn't like to roll over and play dead in the face of power. A highly independent woman who likes to live on her own terms. However, in a desperate situation, Maddie takes up a job — to date a reclusive boy from a rich family and unearth his latent sexual fantasy before he embarks on college. The plot takes a quirky turn when the teenager exhibits no sexual interest in Maddie.
Besides Jennifer Lawrence, No Hard Feelings also stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick.
No Hard Feelings becomes available for streaming on a rental basis in all leading platforms, including BookMyShow streaming on August 29.
