Shahid Kapoor reveals he didn't want his father to feature in Udta Punjab

Shahid Kapoor and his father, actor Pankaj Kapur have featured as protagonists in numerous films including Mausam (2011), Shaandaar (2015), and Jersey (2022). Together, they share a great camaraderie. Despite their great bond, Shahid, however, did not want his father to feature in Udta Punjab – a 2016 crime drama film that detailed the lives of people battling drug abuse.

Additionally, Shahid Kapoor shared why he did not want his brother Ishaan Khatter on the sets of his 2016 release film ‘Udta Punjab’. He said, “I was playing a cocaine addict. I don’t even know what it is like to have a drink. So, l was like, this is the most challenging film that I’m making, and I don’t know if I’ll get this character right. And I don’t want the baggage of having my brother because when your younger brother is an AD (assistant director), you know your one eye is there. Now you’re like always theek hai kya, khana.”
