Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, who’s awaiting the release of Devil this November, has commenced another project today. His next, tentatively titled NKR 21 - was formally launched in the presence of cast, crew and other dignitaries from the film industry today. Saiee Manjrekar plays the female lead in the big-budget saga that also features actress Vijayashanthi in a crucial role.

Pradeep Chilukuri, who has written the story, is also wielding the megaphone for NKR 21. The film is produced by Ashok Vardhan Muppa and Sunil Balusu under Ashoka Creations and NTR Arts. While veteran actor Murali Mohan switched on the camera, Vijayashanthi sounded the clapboard for the first shot. Muppa Venkaiah Chowdary, the presenter, handed over the script to the team.
C Ram Prasad, the seasoned cinematographer who did a fabulous job with the latest release Bhagavanth Kesari, cranks the camera for the film. B Ajaneesh Loknath, who scored a hit with Virupaksha in Telugu and is awaiting the release of Mangalavaaram next, is the composer. Hari Krishna Bhandari has penned the screenplay for the project. Brahma Kadali is the production designer.
Saiee Manjrekar, who shot to fame with the multilingual Major, had recently starred in the pan Indian film Skanda too. The other cast, crew of NKR 21 will be announced soon. The film will be mounted on a lavish budget while the makers say it has many strong characters and are confident about the script. Vijayashanthi returned to films with Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru in 2020.
The director of NKR 21, Pradeep, had forayed into the industry with Raja Cheyyi Vesthe, starring Nara Rohith, Taraka Rathna and Isha Talwar (now streaming on ZEE5). Kalyan Ram had a release in the first half of 2023 too - Amigos, which featured him in a triple role. Directed by Rajendra Reddy and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is now streaming on Netflix.
