Nivin Pauly recently opened up about the film, which is directed by Liju Krishna
Malayalam star Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu is finally gearing up for release this week. The movie, helmed by debutant Liju Krishna, will see the actor once again in a socio-political drama that addresses the plight of the less privileged.
In a recent interaction with the media, the Premam actor opened up about the movie, which is set to hit theatres along with Mohanlal’s Monster on October 21. “Padavettu is the story of a commoner named Ravi. It’s also the tale of people who have suffered defeats. All of us, in one way or the other have had to encounter failures and several hurdles throughout our lives, before we win. This is about a man who has been defeated and his tale of survival,” said Nivin.
The movie also has Aditi Balan, Shammi Thilakan and Indrans in pivotal roles. The film’s shoot had begun before the pandemic and only concluded this year.
Further on Padavettu, its director Liju said, “It’s also the battle of the laymen for their survival and their fight for what is rightfully theirs. The story evolves against the backdrop of Malabar and highlights the problems faced by farmers. It addresses issues that would become huge talking points in the future; we have tried to present all of these in a fictionalised but rooted manner.”
Apart from the main cast, the majority of the characters in the movie are played by real-life farmers from the areas where the film was shot. “We wanted to show the mental preparation and defence of the defeated when they are once again oppressed,” said the filmmaker.
Padavettu will mark Nivin’s second theatrical release since the pandemic. The actor, who was also part of Abrid Shine’s Mahaveeryar, will also have another big release two weeks later with Rosshan Andrrews’ Saturday Night, which is an entertainer starring Aju Varghese, Saniya Iyappan, Saiju Kurup and Siju Wilson.
