Sakshi Tanwar, Lara Dutta, and Rakul Preet Singh are among those rumoured to be on board for Nitesh Tiwari's epic Ramayana.
Despite the lack of formal confirmation, Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is creating quite a stir in the Indian film industry. An eye-catching ensemble featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol will supposedly play the legendary roles of Rama, Sita, Ravana, and Hanuman in the franchise consisting of three films.
Now, Filmibeat has reported that the directors have cast Sakshi Tanwar as Mandodari, Ravan's wife, in the Ramayana which is sure to increase the excitement. A source told the entertainment portal that Nitesh already has a perfect cast in place for Ramayana, adding that Sakshi is decided as Mandodari, Ravan's wife. She is excited to share screen time with KGF star Yash and has been going to team script-reading sessions. According to the source, not just her, but even Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh were part of the reading sessions.
Just in case you didn't hear, Lara is supposedly going to play the lead role of Kaikeyi, while Rakul will play the lead role of Shurpanakha. The insider assured the entertainment portal that the two performers are really appearing in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.
Early rumours had Ramayana hitting the floors in March or April of this year. New rumours, nevertheless, have the crew aiming to begin filming early next year. The source said that filming will start next year. But the makers have not yet made an official declaration.
Meanwhile, as per reports in ETimes, Indira Krishnan will portray Kausalya, the real mother of Lord Rama, in the upcoming film. Animal an action-thriller starring Ranbir Kapoor, was the last time we saw the actor. She was the mother of Rashmika Mandanna and gave the A-list actors a glowing evaluation in that film. Her acting and generous demeanour were admired and imitated by many. Ranbir had the idea to cast her in the role.
