Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi trailer: Vaibhav Tatwawadi faces a challenge – can he change his village’s backward mentality?

Vaibhav Tatwawadi is back, this time in Sony LIV’s web series called Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi. In this trailer, Vaibhav is seen in the role of – no guesses – Nirmal Pathak. He faces some tough choices – whether to stay in his village and change it or leave it and live his life in peace.

Nirmal Pathak is just back from Mumbai. In his village, he is considered to be Salman Khan’s closest friend. However, this village does not even consider their own as equal.

As soon as Nirmal comes back to his village, he is treated like a special guest – not one of his own. People are literally charged money to see his face. Yes, this is that kind of a village. Welcome aboard. There’s more to see.

Alka Amin, who plays Nirmal’s amma (mom), also has a major role to play in this trailer. She influences his decision in a way that is strong enough to convince even the viewers.

From something as basic as not having a glass of water at the dinner table to something as grave as making a place ‘impure’ with innocent kids’ presence, this trailer takes a major turn.

As this video progresses, you see the mentality of the people residing in the village. In the name of constituency, they mock a man who tried to start his own party and failed miserably – even losing his deposits. And this is just the beginning of trying to understand the mentality of the villagers.

This is one village where if someone tries to bring a change, he/she gets replaced instead. The incident clearly states that people in power are not open to change and if somebody demands it, they can easily be replaced. It is how the Indian society has functioned since ages and the series underlines this thought through the trailer beautifully.

Here, if Nirmal questions the underprivileged, he is asked if he is from JNU (known to fight for what they believe is right). He points out the clear differences between the classes and questions the whole practice, only to receive answers that appear savage but are not cool. These incidences are inspired from real life and any person living in especially Northern India can instantly relate to the trailer.

Nirmal Pathak is tagged as Lord Ram but even he was in exile for as long as 17 years before he was put in a situation where he had to fight Raavan. Here, Nirmal has to fight something that has been followed since ages, no questions asked. Having learned why villages don’t progress, he can do either of the two things – stay and bring a change or leave and be where he is accepted and appreciated. While the latter is an easy way out, the former is something that will take a lot of effort. Which will our Nirmal Pathak choose?

There is a dialogue in the series which will put you in deep thought and disgust at the same time. It goes like, “If you aren’t a communist before 40, you don’t have a heart. And if you are one after 40, you don’t have brains.” The trailer leaves you with this thought.
